About the Dawson County Fair

The Dawson County Fairgrounds is located at the very end of North Merrill Avenue; North off Exit 215. The facilities include several stables for overnight boarding, a grass show arena with bleachers and other livestock barns. There is a very large exhibit hall, several service organization vendor buildings, two restroom facilities, and a covered stage with storage and coordinated shade shelter with moveable bleachers. These are located in a park-like atmosphere.

A highlight is a 2000-person capacity handicap accessible grandstand facility with vendor booths beneath which adjoins a superb rodeo arena that is adaptable to motor sports. The Dawson County Fair is generally the second weekend in August and hosts exhibit judging for 4-H and Open Class, a carnival, petting zoo, free stage entertainment, an award winning rodeo, a concert and other sponsored grandstands events like the Chamber of Commerce Ranch Rodeo. There are always a wide variety of food and wares vendors at fairtime.

The Dawson County Fair and fairgrounds is proud of the work the community has put toward this facility. Approximately 8000 people enjoy the fair and scores of others enjoy the motor sports hosted by Makoshika Promotions throughout the summer.
